750m Swim / 17km Off-Road Cycle / 5km Run

Making the most of the amazing scenery around Loch Lomond, our unique triathlon events involve an open-water shoreline swim along the Bonnie Banks. The swim is followed by a cycle and run on trails and off-road surfaces through the wooded and open landscapes of Balloch Castle Country Park.

The Beastie Sprint Triathlon starts with a shallow 750m open water swim in the loch, on a route clearly marked by buoys. Transition takes you into the 17km off-road cycle, followed by the 5km run.

Please note: The Bike route is a MOUNTAIN BIKE course which can get very muddy, and is NOT suitable for Road Bikes or bikes with Slick tyres. See our FAQs for more details.

Run Route x1 Loop

GPS track of the Beastie Run Lap can be seen here, it comes to 5km.
Heading up to registration out of transition, you will turn down along the shore to the end of the park. Here you will be directed around the edge of the Moss o Balloch and back into the park to start climbing the Main Drive. You will turn back when you reach the point that the Bike course joins the Main Drive and head back past the walled garden turn off.
You will need to turn left and complete the Moss & Drive section again before you can turn back along the Shore Road.
